Although apple-picking season is coming to a close, apples will always be my favorite fruit and I eat them all year ‘round. There are many different ways you can eat an apple besides eating it right off the core. Because I am an expert on these ways, I would like to share some of them with you all.
.) The Classic—Apple and Peanut Butter. For some reason, peanut butter tastes great with everything, including apples. My personal favorite is a granny smith apple with some crunchy peanut butter. Sometimes it’s a good idea to switch it up and use almond butter instead. If you are feeling really adventurous, add some cinnamon and honey to the peanut butter. It’s delicious!
.) Soft and Delicious—Baked Apple. I unfortunately had my wisdom teeth extracted over the summer. Although it wasn’t as painful as I expected, I could not really hard foods (like apples) for a little over a week. Instead of giving up my favorite fruit, I decided it would be a good idea to bake them! You can use an oven, but to save some time, I used a microwave. Cut out the core of the apple, put in on a plate and cook until the apple is soft (about 3-5 minutes). I like to add cinnamon, raisins, or syrup to switch it up! What do you think would be a good combination?
.) Best Breakfast—Apple and Oatmeal. This combination is definitely one of my favorite meals for breakfast. There are so many different variations and it’s a great way to get creative. You need to cut up about ¼ to ½ of an apple into small pieces. Using quick of regular oats, microwave for about 30 seconds. Then add the apples (maybe some more water to the oats) and cook for another minute. You can add anything you want to this. Sometimes I add vanilla protein powder but other times I add peanut butter. Maybe I’ll try craisins, cinnamon, and vanilla extract next time…
.) Crunchy and Creamy—Apples with Greek Yogurt. For a satisfying mid-afternoon snack, I usually am in the mood for a fruit/yogurt combination—the fruit is obviously apples! Slice up your favorite kind of apple (mine is granny smith of fuji) and scoop about ½ cup of plain Greek yogurt into a bowl. I usually like to add some jelly or honey to the Greek yogurt so it’s not as sour. Sometimes I add GoLean Crunch to act as granola. Dip the apple slices in the yogurt and enjoy!
.) Let’s Get Creative—Apple Pancake! I found this recipe one day on Pinterest and I just had to try it! It is a fun and creative way to make pancakes and I included the link to the recipe. Click here! Sometimes it’s fun an exciting to make an extravagant breakfast with your friends or family, and I would definitely recommend this one.
