Insurance Coverage: Providers for BCBS, Cigna, Medicare and Aetna

Will My Health Insurance Cover These Nutrition Consultations in Maryland?

We are providers for most of the major health insurance companies in Maryland. In addition to covering for medical conditions, more and more companies are covering for preventive nutrition consultations including Anthem and other insurance companies are covering for unlimited consultations.  Since the insurance environment is constantly changing, it is best to contact your insurance company and/or read your specific policy. Our services are covered by many major health insurance providers. However, each contract varies depending upon the agreement with your employer. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company to determine if nutrition services are covered. If you do not have these benefits, talk you your employer’s benefits department to get medical nutrition therapy covered as a benefit.

Please review our pdf guide to current insurance coverage requirements.

Here also a bit more information about coverage for nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy. Because there are sometimes differences in deductibles and exclusions, please contact your insurance company for specifics about your own policy.

We are providers for the following insurance companies:

Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

Medicaid as of August 2016.

Companies not listed above will oftentimes give you a single case agreement or some other pre-authorization to see our Registered Dietitians if we are providing a service that other health professionals are not providing.

For more information on speaking to your insurance company about coverage, take a look at these guidelines.  In addition, you can also call our office for more information at 301-474-2499 or email at

We look forward to working with you.
